Recap: Sacramento Dragons vs. Christian Brothers Falcons
The Sacramento Dragons came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Christian Brothers with points to spare, taking the game 69-54. Given Sacramento's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Christian Brothers is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sacramento's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sir Marius Jones led the charge by scoring 25 points along with five rebounds. The game was Jones' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendahl Hearne, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
Despite the loss, Christian Brothers still got an impressive performance from Shawn Underwood Jr., who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Simpson, who scored eight points.
Sacramento has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Christian Brothers, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.
Sacramento will head out on the road to face off against Natomas at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Natomas knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Sacramento likes a good challenge. Christian Brothers won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Jesuit at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th.
