Softball Recap: Great Mills Comes Up Short

Great Mills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lackey Chargers. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Olivia Quinn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Great Mills' loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Lackey, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Great Mills will head out to square off against Patuxent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.27 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lackey, they are taking a road trip to take on Chopticon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
