Softball Game Preview: Randleman Tigers vs. Providence Grove Patriots

Randleman and Providence Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Tigers will take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Randleman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Randleman will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Trinity on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 19-1 win. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Addyson Dees and Isabel Kirkpatrick were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Dees pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kirkpatrick tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Dees has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. At bat, Dees got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Kirkpatrick went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Kirkpatrick a new career-high.

In other batting news, Randleman got a massive performance out of Kadie Green, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Lyric Chriscoe was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Randleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Providence Grove lost 15-2 to Ledford on Friday.

Providence Grove's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for Randleman, their record is now 15-5.

Randleman beat Providence Grove 6-3 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
