            Basketball Preview: Tohatchi Cougars vs. Aztec Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Tohatchi is 4-0 against Aztec since November of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. After both having extra time off,  the two teams will dust off their jerseys to  square off against  one another  at 7:00  p.m. The timing is sure in Tohatchi's favor as the  team sits on three straight wins at home while Aztec has been banged up by 16 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
It was a proper cat-fight when  Tohatchi challenged Robertson last Saturday. Tohatchi fell  61-50 to Robertson.

Despite their  loss, Tohatchi saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays.  Josh Dawes, who  posted 18  points in addition to five  assists and five  boards, was perhaps the best of all. Dawes is also on a roll when it comes to  steals, as he's  now  grabbed two or more in the last five games he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Adriano Begay, who  dropped  a double-double on ten points and 17  boards.
 Even though they lost, Tohatchi  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 18  offensive rebounds. That's the most  offensive boards they've managed all season.
 Meanwhile, Aztec hadn't done well against Bayfield recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  last Saturday. Aztec strolled past Bayfield with  points to spare, taking the game  68-54.
 Tohatchi's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Aztec, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
 Tohatchi took their  victory against Aztec  in their previous matchup  last Friday by a conclusive  80-59. Will Tohatchi repeat their success,  or does  Aztec have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
