Football Recap: Murrah Mustangs vs. Germantown Mavericks

Murrah had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it four. They were dealt a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Germantown Mavericks. The Mustangs lost against the Mavericks in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 37-15 score last time.

Schorrard Murray threw for 70 yards on ten of 16 attempts. Jouston Foster was his top target, picking up 86 receiving yards. On the ground, Justin Atkins rushed for 30 yards.

As for Germantown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. That looming 56-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Germantown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nyrikius Johnson out in front who rushed for 50 yards, and also caught one TD. Another rusher making a difference was Lawson Branson, who rushed for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Murrah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Germantown, they will challenge DeSoto Central at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Mavericks' defense better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 28.5 points per game this season.
