Softball Preview: Cody Broncs vs. Kelly Walsh Trojans

Cody has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Kelly Walsh Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Cody is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Cody faced Green River in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cody walked away with a 9-5 victory over Green River.

Violet Wollschlager made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (she also only allowed one walk). Wollschlager was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Cody got a big performance out of Amelia Reinker, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emma Lindahl, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, sadly, Kelly Walsh is still looking for their first win of the season after five games. They fell 8-5 to Rock Springs back in March.

Cody's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs per game. As for Kelly Walsh, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-4 record last season and are now at 0-5.
