Preview: Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets vs. Seymour Wildcats
The Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Seymour Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's 9-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Watertown 12-7.
Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nolan Risedorf, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Seymour humbled Wolcott with a 49-6 victory. With Seymour ahead 42-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Seymour got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Cortello out in front who threw for 131 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Rossetti, who picked up 92 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Seymour's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Wolcott's QB won't forget Caden Miller anytime soon given Miller sacked him six times.
Watertown's win bumped their season record to 3-3 while Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's loss dropped theirs to 2-4.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Seymour struggles in that department as they've been even better at 185.3 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
