Volleyball Recap: Celina Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Celina, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Columbus Grove on Saturday. Celina has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Columbus Grove, too.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Celina who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 26-24.

Their offense was headlined by Sidney Jenkins and Lilly Shreffler, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Haley Kizer and her 22 assists. Avery Niekamp controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the loss, Columbus Grove still got an impressive performance from Saige Benroth, who had 16 digs and two aces.

Celina now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Columbus Grove, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Celina will host Marion Local at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbus Grove, they will be playing at home against Upper Scioto Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
