Softball Recap: Maine-Endwell Takes Down Peru in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Maine-Endwell walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Peru Nighthawks with a sharp 15-1 win on Saturday. Considering the Spartans have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabel Hunter was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Hurba, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Maine-Endwell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Maine-Endwell's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

As of now, neither Maine-Endwell nor the Nighthawks have any future games scheduled.
