Baseball Game Preview: Stoneman Douglas Eagles vs. Jesuit Tigers

The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will square off against the Jesuit Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stoneman Douglas will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.

Stoneman Douglas is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Santa Fe Catholic, who was ranked 21st at the time (Stoneman Douglas was ranked second). Stoneman Douglas never let Santa Fe Catholic get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Monday.

The result came thanks to Daniel Tartaglia's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Bennett Gary was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Nick Diaz also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, Jesuit narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Trinity Christian Academy 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Ben Burke looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cannon Murtagh, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Stoneman Douglas' victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Jesuit, their record now sits at 13-4.
