Baseball Game Preview: Slocum Mustangs vs. Oakwood Panthers

Slocum is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Oakwood Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Slocum is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Brazos Christian, falling 16-1.

Slocum saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Sbrusch, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Oakwood fell victim to Grapeland and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They lost 15-0 to the Sandies. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Sandies recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Slocum's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Oakwood, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-2.

Slocum took their victory against Oakwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2. Does Slocum have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oakwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
