Softball Recap: Melba Drops Season-High Score on Payette

Melba's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with an 18-14 victory over the Payette Pirates. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Melba got a massive performance out of Kyla Harris, who scored six runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those six runs gave Harris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kodi Adams, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.

Melba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Melba's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Payette, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melba will square off against Nampa Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Payette, they will face off against Cole Valley Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
