Basketball Recap: Lake Station Edison Takes a Loss

Lake Station Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Portage Indians and fell 88-37. The Fighting Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-20.

Despite the loss, Lake Station Edison still got an impressive performance from Devion Henry, who went 8-for-16 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Henry a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Pridemore, who posted four points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Brown, who went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points. Michael Wellman was another key player, going 6-for-7 en route to 13 points along with five assists and three steals.

Lake Station Edison's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Portage, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Lake Station Edison will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Illiana Christian at 8:00 p.m. on February 21st. Illiana Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Lake Station Edison likes a good challenge. As for Portage, they have already played their next match, a 44-42 loss against Chesterton on the 14th.
