Basketball Recap: Drew Takes a Loss

Drew was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midtown Knights. While losing is never fun, Drew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Midtown is ranked 43rd).

Midtown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hailey Wortmann, who posted 18 points and eight rebounds. Wortmann has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cate Barton, who scored five points in addition to 17 boards and seven assists.

Drew's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Midtown, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Drew does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midtown, they will take on M.L. King at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Midtown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully M.L. King likes a good challenge.
