Basketball Recap: Spartanburg Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Spartanburg Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 50-42 defeat to the Chapman Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly eight points.

Hawken Smith went supernova for Chapman, putting up 18 points and five assists. Those 18 points gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayden Humphries, who posted nine points.

Spartanburg Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Chapman, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.

Spartanburg Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-30 win against Oakbrook Prep on the 7th. As for Chapman, they will take on Greer Middle College at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
