Basketball Game Preview: Loveland Red Wolves vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

The Loveland Red Wolves will square off against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Loveland and four for Fort Collins.

Last Tuesday, Loveland was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Poudre. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Wolves came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Impalas are ranked 170th).

Meanwhile, Fort Collins suffered their closest defeat since January 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Fossil Ridge by a score of 50-47.

Loveland will need focus on slowing down Marcus Burkett, one of several Fort Collins players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Henry Peterson, who put up 11 points.

Fort Collins' loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Loveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Everything came up roses for Loveland against Fort Collins when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 66-38 win. Will Loveland repeat their success, or does Fort Collins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
