Basketball Game Preview: Tioga Pirates vs. Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Mavericks

Tioga hasn't had much luck against Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tioga Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Mavericks at 3:00 p.m. Tioga knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Tioga made easy work of Divide County and carried off a 68-42 win. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Maroons are ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood entered their tilt with Glenburn last Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 56-48 victory over the Panther.

Tioga's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.1 points. As for Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Everything went Tioga's way against Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Tioga made off with a 67-47 victory. Will Tioga repeat their success, or does Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
