Baseball Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

Butler extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping them down to 0-2. They lost 20-7 to the Jasper Eagles. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Jasper's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

For Jasper's part, Quentin Winans made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Winans was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colt Storm, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Carter Smith was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will welcome Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jasper, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Osceola at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
