Football Recap: Benedictine Takes a Loss

Benedictine lost against Buford back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cadets were dealt a 42-14 loss at the hands of the Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Cadets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Wolves are ranked second).

Although Benedictine took the loss, they still got scores from Bubba Frazier and Stephen Cannon.

Buford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan McCoy, who rushed for 79 yards and one score on only ten carries. Those 79 rushing yards gave McCoy a new career-high.

Benedictine's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Buford, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Benedictine will venture away from home to square off against Burke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Buford, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roswell at 8:00 p.m. on September 5.
