Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Roncalli's 14th in Last 15 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Roncalli had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Greenwood Woodmen. Considering the Royals have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Rudy Schoettle was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since May 5th. Another player making a difference was Sam Roeder, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases.

Roncalli is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Roncalli will challenge New Palestine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. Greenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
