Baseball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral couldn't beat Cienega on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Firebirds fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 7-6. The Firebirds were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in February of 2018.

Tanner Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Gavin Mesa was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Cienega, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-8.

Chaparral does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cienega, they will head out on the road to square off against Catalina Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
