Villa Park faced Bishop Amat in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Spartans walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Lancers. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Villa Park got several good pitching performances, but Jake Nobles was perhaps the best, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Nobles posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Aidan Young was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Santillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Villa Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.

Villa Park pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Amat, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 19-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Villa Park will square off against Ocean View at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bishop Amat, they will take on La Salle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
