Baseball Recap: Rhodes Find Success

Rhodes took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Valley Forge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Patriots 15-13. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Luis Correa was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Correa was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Roberto Benitez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cesar Rios was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Rhodes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive matches.

Rhodes' record is now 14-3. As for Valley Forge, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rhodes will welcome John Hay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. John Hay will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Rhodes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley Forge, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Buckeye at 5:00 p.m.
