Baseball Recap: Green Lake/Princeton Wins Going Away Against Rio

Green Lake/Princeton won the last time they faced Rio and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigersharks were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Vikings. With that win, the Tigersharks brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Leif Selthofner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Green Lake/Princeton is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Selthofner was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season.

In other batting news, Grant Bartol was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Lewis Lofgren was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Green Lake/Princeton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive games.

The victory got Green Lake/Princeton back to even at 4-4. As for Rio, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Lake/Princeton will square off against Westfield Area at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rio, they will face off against Fall River at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
