Softball Recap: Johnsonville's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Johnsonville was forced to take a big defeat against Green Sea Floyds on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Friday. The Flashes walked away with an 11-8 win over the Trojans. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Flashes as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Mallory Prosser made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kassidi Thompkins, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Claire Cook was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two doubles, and two RBI.

Johnsonville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Johnsonville's record is now 4-12. As for Green Sea Floyds, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-6 record.
