Softball Recap: Fredericksburg Comes Up Short

Fredericksburg was the 15-0 winner over Wimberley when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Fredericksburg fell just short of Wimberley by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Billies' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Makenna Duecker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Larryn Feuge was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Fredericksburg's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-9. As for Wimberley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Fredericksburg is set to challenge their familiar foe Canyon Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wimberley will take on rival Davenport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
