The Steilacoom Sentinels will head out on the road to square off against the Washington Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Steilacoom, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Steilacoom turned things around against Clover Park on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 25-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sentinels considering their one-run performance the game before.

Makayla Downey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Runn, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Izzy Cortez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Washington's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin Pierce.
Washington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Garcia-Zamora, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Steilacoom's record is now 3-14. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Steilacoom has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Steilacoom might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Washington in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Sentinels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
