Recap: Wheatmore Warriors vs. Trinity Bulldogs
The Wheatmore Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 19th straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 75-52 loss at the hands of Trinity. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheatmore in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Wheatmore lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colin Dobb, who scored eight points along with two steals. Wyatt Stepp was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Dominic Payne, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and six assists for Trinity. Payne is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Hodges, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Wheatmore dropped their record down to 1-19 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Trinity, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Wheatmore will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Randolph has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last four matchups. As for Trinity, they will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Uwharrie Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 215th).
