Volleyball Game Preview: Alameda Hornets vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets

The Alameda Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Wednesday, Alameda came up short against Oakland and fell 3-1. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 17-25, 25-12, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Berkeley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Castro Valley.

Berkeley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-23.

Alameda will have to contain Davis Bove as he made an impact in Berkeley's last game. He had five digs and four aces.

Berkeley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Alameda, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Alameda beat Berkeley 3-1 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
