Basketball Game Preview: Brookland Bearcats vs. Jonesboro Hurricane

The Brookland Bearcats just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Jonesboro Hurricane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jonesboro took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Brookland, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, everything went Brookland's way against Paragould as Brookland made off with a 56-34 win. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Rams are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Jonesboro was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 47-41 to Marked Tree. The Hurricane have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brookland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Jonesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Brookland didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jonesboro in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 52-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
