Baseball Game Preview: Katy Taylor Mustangs vs. Paetow Panthers

The Katy Taylor Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Paetow Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Katy Taylor nor Paetow posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Paetow's offense. They fell just short of Katy by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The Panthers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Victor Salazar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Paetow's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 6-10-1 when he doesn't).

Paetow's loss dropped their record down to 10-12-1. As for Katy Taylor, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10-1.

Katy Taylor beat Paetow 13-10 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
