Football Game Preview: Auburn Trojans vs. Olympia Spartans

The Auburn Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Olympia Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Auburn is looking for their season's first win.

On Friday, Auburn came up short against Pittsfield and fell 34-21.

Meanwhile, Olympia took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-13 victory over Pleasant Plains. That looming 54-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Olympia's win came from a few key players Auburn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jimmy Lollar, who rushed for 177 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 130 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Brendon Hardimon, who rushed for 94 yards and three scores on only nine carries.

Olympia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 459 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 241 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Olympia, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Auburn might still be hurting after the 66-44 loss they got from Olympia when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lollar, who rushed for 420 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry.
