Recap: Eldorado Golden Eagles vs. Highland Hornets
The Eldorado Golden Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They really took it to Highland for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-49 win at home. The win was familiar territory for Eldorado who now have three in a row.
Bella Hines was her usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 40 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Eldorado's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chioma Holyfield, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Highland had strong showings from Rebecca Neal, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds, and Breanna Payton, who scored 17 points. Payton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alison Ryan was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Highland struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Eldorado racked up 11 assists.
Eldorado's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Highland, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Eldorado will be playing in front of their home fans against Piedra Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to take on Manzano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
