Tired of peddling candy bars door-to-door? Burro ball is emerging as popular way to raise funds for high school athletic programs.

Unique spin on hoops becoming a popular high school sports fundraiser.

Fundraising for high school sports is a tough job.

But in places like Tuckerman, Ark., and Tivoli, Texas, administrators are letting donkeys do the work.

Introducing the hottest trend in high school sports fundraising – donkey basketball.

Same basic concepts as Naismith's game, only players ride or lead donkeys while trying to score. Here are the basic rules of donkey basketball:

(1) Players must be on their donkey (mounted) in order to shoot or pass the ball.

(2) No abusing the donkeys. This one is important, as some animal rights activists aren't huge fans of the game, though playing hoops seems like a good change-of-pace activity in the life of a donkey.

(3) Players must wear a helmet. Donkeys aren't always great team players and there is some potential for hard falls, as seen in the video.

That's pretty much it. Scoring is challenging (as seen in the video above) and most pre-game strategy goes out the window once the donkeys begin exerting their will.

Wikipedia claims that donkey basketball has been around since the 1930s.
