Football Recap: Natchez Skates Past North Pike with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ridgeland, Natchez was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They really took it to the North Pike Jaguars for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-14 win. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Natchez was led to victory by Erik Hutchins, Jr and Joshua Barnes. Hutchins, Jr punched in three rushing scores, while Barnes rushed for 76 yards and one TD. Those 76 rushing yards gave Barnes a new career-high.

Another reason for the win was Natchez's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Christian Batteaste, Kamron White, and Devin Ford, who each picked up one sack apiece. Natchez received some extra help from Ahmarrion Fletcher, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Although North Pike took the loss, they still got scores from Treshun White and Dee Smith.

The victory got Natchez back to even at 3-3. As for North Pike, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Natchez will head out on the road to square off against Laurel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Pike, they will host South Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so the Jaguars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
