Basketball Recap: O'Neill Eagles vs. Norfolk Catholic Knights
The O'Neill Eagles lost against the Norfolk Catholic Knights last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. O'Neill fell 59-49 to the Knights. O'Neill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, O'Neill saw an underclassman step up: Hannah Hilker scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hilker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bergyn Classen, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Leading Norfolk Catholic to victory were Mallory Wolf and Avery Yosten. Wolf scored 11 points, while Yosten scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Hartzell, who scored ten points.
O'Neill has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Norfolk Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
O'Neill will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Norfolk Catholic is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Trojans at 10:00 a.m. on February 3rd. Cedar Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
