Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Middies vs. Lakota West Firebirds

Middletown hasn't had much luck against Lakota West recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Middies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Firebirds at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Middletown is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against Fairfield, falling 10-4. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Middies' highest-scoring game to date.

Meanwhile, Lakota West suffered their closest defeat since March 27, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Turpin by a score of 6-4. The loss was the Firebirds' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lakota West fell to 7-1. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Middletown suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Lakota West when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Middies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
