Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Brookland-Cayce

Brookland-Cayce lost a heartbreaker the last time they played North Augusta, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. Brookland-Cayce was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over North Augusta on Friday. Considering the Bearcats have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Preston Coggins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Brookland-Cayce is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Austin Rhodus was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bennett Plane, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Brookland-Cayce's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for North Augusta, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
