Softball Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Wabash Apaches

The Eastern Comets will challenge the Wabash Apaches at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Eastern managed to slip by Delphi Community the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Comets lost 10-3 to the Oracles on Wednesday. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eastern saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emillia Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Andrews has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Lauren Hendricks also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Wabash suffered their biggest defeat since May 4th on Friday. They came up short against Bluffton, falling 17-5. Apaches fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Tigers since Friday.

Andi Conliff was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Elli Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Eastern now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Wabash, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Wabash's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eastern has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Wabash, though, as they've only averaged .364.
