Baseball Game Preview: Rogers Pirates vs. West Valley Eagles

Rogers is 1-9 against West Valley since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Rogers took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Deer Park, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates won by a run and slipped past the Stags 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Logenn Storer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Ables, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, West Valley entered their tilt with Clarkston on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Bantams. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 22nd.

West Valley's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Rogers, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12.
