Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Mustangs vs. Xavier Saints

The Mt. Vernon Mustangs will challenge the Xavier Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Mt. Vernon beat Vinton-Shellsburg 4-1. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Xavier made easy work of Washington on Monday and carried off an 8-1 win.

Mt. Vernon pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Xavier, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
