Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is South Eugene's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

South Eugene hadn't done well against North Medford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The South Eugene Axe walked away with a 52-45 victory over the North Medford Black Tornado. This was payback for the Axe, who suffered a 59-57 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Several Black Tornado players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Easton Curtis, who posted 16 points. Curtis' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Keenan Stewart was another key player, putting up 13 points.

South Eugene has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for North Medford, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Coincidentally, South Eugene and North Medford will both be playing South Medford the next time they take the court. North Medford will host South Medford at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while South Eugene will host them at 6:45 p.m. on January 24th.
