Basketball Recap: Pickens Academy Comes Up Short

Pickens Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aliceville Yellowjackets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-46 back in December of 2024.

Aliceville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malia Green led the charge by putting up 20 points. Ronnesha Corder was another key player, posting 17 points.

Pickens Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Aliceville, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Pickens Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-25 defeat against South Lamar on the 6th. Aliceville has also already played their next game, a 49-33 win against Pickens County on the 4th.
