Softball Recap: Central Magnet Takes a Loss

Central Magnet's last matchup with Pope John Paul II could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. Central Magnet came up short against Pope John Paul II, falling 14-8. If Central Magnet was looking for revenge after losing 6-4 to Pope John Paul II when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Megan Weber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Hayley Mangrum, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Central Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Pope John Paul II, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

Looking ahead, Central Magnet will welcome Giles County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pope John Paul II, they are taking a road trip to square off against Harpeth Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Honeybears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.8 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
