The Schoharie Storm will head out to take on the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Last Thursday, Schoharie came up short against Duanesburg and fell 7-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Storm in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.
Kayla Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Madison Reinhart was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Riley Lawyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville). Everything went their way against Fort Plain on Thursday as they made off with an 18-6 win. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville got a massive performance out of Taylor Hayes, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those hits marked the first that Hayes has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Polidori, who went 2-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.
Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Plain only posted an OBP of .303.
Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Schoharie, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Schoharie couldn't quite finish off Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Storm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
