Football Recap: Town East Christian Comes Up Short Despite Gideon Parrish's Big Defensive Game

Town East Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arlington Heights Christian Lions. The Eagles lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 34-6 score last time.

Despite the loss, Town East Christian still got an impressive performance from Abel Esquivel, who threw for 232 yards and six TDs, and also rushed for 192 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Esquivel is now averaging an impressive 116.7 rushing yards per game.

Even if they lost, Town East Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Gideon Parrish was especially locked on to Arlington Heights Christian's QB and sacked him four times. Town East Christian got some further help from Isaiah New: he forced two fumbles, made nine total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Town East Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Arlington Heights Christian, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, Town East Christian will challenge Somerset Academy Brooks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Arlington Heights Christian, they will take on Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lions 12.5, the Chargers 13) so any points scored will be well earned.
