Football Recap: Albany Starts Season with Win at Home

Albany gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over the Stamford Bulldogs. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 348th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Albany didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaxson Street, Calhan Fairchild, and Huffman Heatly picked up one apiece.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albany will square off against Hawley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stamford, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against De Leon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
