The Christian Community Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the CSTHEA Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Christian Community is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Jacksonville Christian Academy, who was ranked 13th in their home state at the time (Christian Community was ranked second). The Colts claimed a resounding 41-12 victory over the Thunder. Considering the Colts have won three contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, CSTHEA had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Knights 62-34. The Patriots' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Christian Community better keep an eye on Pierse Jackson. He was instrumental in CSTHEA's win, rushing for 111 yards and three TDs on only five carries. Jackson's longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jacob Headden helped out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and a rushing touchdown.
CSTHEA was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 368 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
CSTHEA's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Cooper Parsley five times. Thomas Long refused to say out of the backfield, picking up three sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Lancaster Christian Academy's side was Titus Clee, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Christian Community, their record now sits at 6-3.
Christian Community was able to grind out a solid victory over CSTHEA when the teams last played back in August, winning 34-26. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
