Baseball Recap: Henryville Comes Up Short

Henryville had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it six. They fell just short of the South Central Rebels by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Wyatt Owens made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dylan O'Bannon, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for South Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 13, 2024.

On South Central's side, Jarrett Ferree made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Ferree has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Ferree wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Henryville will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Central, they will take on North Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
