Recap: Scales Mound Hornets vs. Galena Pirates
The Scales Mound Hornets pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 62-55 to Galena. It was the first time this season that Scales Mound let down their fans at home.
Loss or not, Scales Mound got some senior leadership from Evan Cogan who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds and Thomas Hereau who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Cogan hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Duerr, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Galena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Glasgow led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Glasgow is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Kaden Hauber was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Scales Mound's loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4. As for Galena, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Scales Mound will square off against Rochelle at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Rochelle's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for Galena, they will head out on the road to square off against Eastland at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday. Eastland will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
